Rwanda's HIV rate is 3%, thankfully significantly lower than countries such as Botswana and South Africa. Our holistic approach seeks not only to provide classroom education while ignoring the serious HIV threat and it's social burden.
So, again through open and democratic means, RSVP sponsors an educational day trip that takes children to areas of educational interest of their own choice (guided by their teachers). They for example have chosen to visit a hydroelectric station, a tea factory, Kamembe airport, and a cement factory etc… where they get a full guided tour.
The chief goal though is for them to hear HIV facts directly from nurses and doctors as part of this trip, which must always include a visit to one of 4 district hospitals.
